Week night tea: Bread pizzas

Lightly toast the bread or grill one side. Simple base – 50:50 tomato purée to pesto. We often use little bowls or piles on the chopping board of various topping eg mushrooms, sweet corn, olives, peppers, pineapple, cooked meat for the kids to sprinkle on their own toppings. Then grated

Beta-glucans benefit heart health

Carrot & pineapple porridge to kick a wet summers morning into action. Recipe devised, prepped, cooked (can be done the evening before) & photographed in collaboration 🤣 In my ‘day job’ I’m privileged enough to work with families who have a genetic predisposition to raised levels of fat in the

Fancying something sweet & refreshing but still healthy?

Have you tried grape sorbets? Ingredients: grapes Method: put grapes into the freezer for at least two hours. Then enjoy whenever you fancy. Yes that it! The only caveat I’d give is that if giving to young children make sure you quarter the grapes as they are just the right

Cockle picking

Cheats moussaka in the making

An old favourite in the making, packed full of veggies & full of flavour. Today’s protein & fibre boost comes from chickpeas. #lovepulses Lamb can be expensive but it’s delicious so my advice is to bulk it out with veggies so that it’s cheaper per serving yet retains all of

Chefs perks

Can they really grate now?!

Wild garlic – so much if it everywhere at the moment and it’s so tasty! Stick it in stirfries, salads, tortillas, pasta bakes, bread – pretty much anywhere you’d normally use garlic or spinach. #wildgarlic #foraging #toddlerlife #dietitianlife #toddlerfood #paediatricdietitian #eatforfree

Tomato and cucumber salad to start

Simple tomato and cucumber salad with a little vinaigrette drizzled over. So easy to do and a great start dinner this evening. We popped this out on the table to keep the girls happy whilst the finishing touches were happening to the main.

Are they identical?

This is something people ask me about my blonde and blue eyed daughter as she stranded next to her brunette brown eyed sister. Looks aside though their personalities are also very different. A good illustration of this is their food preferences. Although they’ll usually eat most things their preferences are

Quick lasagna top: Greek yoghurt with a sprinkle of cheese

Quick lasagna top: Greek yoghurt with a sprinkle of cheese. Today’s ‘experiment’ paid off. I always bulk up my bol with loads of veg and pulses to up the fibre and micronutrient content of this yummy dish. #lasagna #timesaving #delicious #mealideas #dietitian #doubleyummy #familyfood #kidsfood #toddlerfood #babyfood

Honeydew Melon ☀️

One of the tastiest melons I’ve ever eaten. The girls absolutely LOVED it too. Just look at the golden colour ☀️  Rich in Vitamin C, B vitamins, potassium and fibre melons are a really healthy food, with diets rich in these nutrients being linked to health including lower blood pressure.
