Herb roll making on an open fire

Getting children to get involved in making their own food is a great way to get them to try new things and to learn to enjoy for food more than just the eating.
Both girls loved making and eating their herby rolls as Enys Gardens Food Jam today and this is something that we’re definitely going to do again (the festival and the bread making at home!).
I think I’d be a great activity for when you’ve got friends around for a BBQ.

Method:

Make up some bread dough.

Grab some fresh herbs eg rosemary, oregano and thyme.

Give each child (with washed hands!) a little piece of dough for them to stick some herbs in and then shape.

Then cook on a wrack above hot embers or hot coals.

Once it sounds hollow to tap it’s ready.

If serving straight away cut open to help it cool faster.
