Mediterranean chicken pasta with ‘turnip’ (swede to those of you beyond the Tamar & below Scotland!)

Author:

Lunch today is made from Sunday Dinner leftovers of roasted veg (peppers, courgette, onion & cherry tomatoes) served with some mini pasta shells.

We’ve drizzled a little olive oil on the pasta shells to stop them sticking together and for flavour. Olive oil is a monounsaturated fat which is thought to be one of the healthiest types of fats for our bodies. Babies need a high fat diet to help meet their energy requirements. All of this growing and learning new stuff everyday makes them hungry.

The chicken is a great source of protein and the veggies are excellent sources of fibre, vitamins and minerals. Most importantly they all taste great.

The girls are able to help themselves (the plate or should I say the mat that they were sat on didn’t look like this photo for very long!). They love to pick up this pasta, it’s just the right size for them.

I found that giving the chicken with the moist veg helped them to eat it as there’s no gravy. Gravy is usually a high salt food and so best avoided for babies & toddlers.
