When you’re on a night away but realise at 4.45pm that none of the local restaurants start serving food until at least 6pm and your little ones need to eat around 5pm… 😬
Quick dash into the local shop to see what we can throw together.
Luckily there were some steam veg packs with peas, leeks & green beans and some BBQ cooked chicken slices in the bargain section. I paired these with some tortellini, pesto and a some shavings of cheese (there’s no grater in the chalet).
Tea cooked in 5 minutes and on the table only a little late. You could easily use left over cold meat and chop the veggies yourself to save money but it’ll obviously take a little longer to prep.
The cheese and pesto made great sandwiches for our picnic lunch on our cycle ride the next day. What a lovely safe route the Camel Trail is. And not to mention flat, which was good as I was towing a cart with two 17 monthers!
We love living in Cornwall but it’s easy to stay in your own patch and so we decided to have a staycation on the north coast. Although I wasn’t even sure about going at first the Owl Sanctuary turned out to be a big highlight – times have changed 😂
